Ice cleats have been around for decades and are used by mountain climbers to scale vertical ice cliffs. They comprise of a rubber or chain lattice that mould around your shoe, with large metal spikes on the sole that are designed to pierce tikes but are replaced by numerous small metal studs that are also designed to dig in to the compact ice and provide significant grip, unlike conventional rubber soles. This potentially could prevent a fatal injury to an elderly individual.
